# Welcome to Flames

Flames is a Discord bot developed by Several Circles. Released in Spring 2021, Flames is still in active development as of 2025.

Flames may have periodic (sometimes lengthy) outages, do to various issues. It's **not known** if Flames can handle a very large number of users and servers efficiently, and a sudden increase may overwhelm the resources available. You may experience performance issues as a result.

This is a project being made for fun, not for monetization or any other particular purpose. We will attempt to maintain the project to match its growth and usage.

## What Flames Does

Flames utilizes Google's natural language analysis API to bring interesting insights to Discord. You can see what people are talking about, how they're feeling, and even ask questions to your community.

## Flames protects your privacy.

We don't collect data to make money off of it or sell it. However, due to the nature of the software, Flames does store parts of or entire messages for brief periods of time. For more information, see our [privacy-policy](https://flames.severalcircles.com/flames-1/privacy-policy "mention").

Usage of Flames in any capacity is completely voluntary and subject to individual [consent](https://flames.severalcircles.com/flames-1/consent "mention") by **each user** (not just at the server level). Even after providing consent, you may revoke it at any time.
